Otto Clinic is an honest mechanic with fair prices who made time for my car, even though they were swamped with work. I couldn't recommend them more.
I called both mechanics in town to see if either of them had the part available. The first shop (Pruett Tire Factory) knew we were desperate and tried to charge us $700 for a new alternator and installation.
While heading home to California from Colorado, I experienced a problem with my truck towing my camper. Chris quickly pinpointed a broken wire on the top of the alternator & was able to swap out the alternator & fix the broken wire without having to replace the connector. After that fix, Chris found that the fuel trims were unacceptable at best & led him to replacing the fuel pump. It took a couple of relaxing days in Wells, NV to get us back on the road & we made it without issue to our home in CA. Chris is a true diamond in the rough!! Highly recommend Chris for any routine or emergency repairs.
I went here based on the positive Google maps reviews, and I was not disappointed. My check engine light came on 30 miles north of Wells, so I checked into a hotel and brought my car in as soon as Otto Clinic opened. There is a fee for diagnosing a check engine light (just shy of $50), but it was an easy fix, so Chris had me out in 30 minutes.
These guys are quick, accommodating and professional. Chris figured out the problem and how to fix it within minutes. We stayed one night in town waiting for the part and got the car back the next day. Wells is lucky to have such a rad mechanic in town.
What makes a good mechanic is someone who is honest in their prices and their work. I didn't plan on stopping in Wells, Nevada until my car's alternator gave out on the freeway.

Otto Clinic quoted me almost $500 cheaper for the part and installation. Unfortunately, however, there were no alternators in stock in Wells, Nevada, so we had to order one from Elko. When the part came, someone had placed a used alternator into the box and return it. I feel like a lot of mechanics wouldn't of said anything and just put it on the car. But the guys at Otto Clinic actually drove all the way back to Elko to pick up the right part, and then fixed my car immediately.
